Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of Students at the institution’s campus in Prescott, Arizona. The University seeks a Dean of Students who will provide vision and oversight for a comprehensive and integrated approach to the engagement and inclusion of students. The Dean will be highly collaborative, imaginative, and effective in responding to and addressing student needs and challenges. The Dean will serve as an advocate for students and will be committed to their well-being and to creating a positive experience for all students.
The Dean of Students provides leadership to Housing & Residence Life, Counseling Services, Disability Services, Women’s and Diversity Center, Student Engagement, the Health & Wellness Center, and the Dean of Student’s Office. The Dean reports to the Chancellor of the Prescott campus.
The Dean of Students provides vision and oversight for a comprehensive and integrated approach to the engagement, success, and inclusion of students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) and is a highly visible and accessible campus leader who is very interactive and values establishing and maintaining relationships with students, their families, faculty, staff, and community members to help students grow and excel.
The Dean of Students will supervise nine direct reports and provide leadership to an overall team of approximately 25 in housing, counseling services, dean of students office, disability student services, Women’s and Diversity Center, student engagement, and the Wellness Center.
With the construction of a new student union building, and an additional dormitory unit under construction, the Dean will have the opportunity to lead the plans to ensure that these new facilities continue to advance services to students. In addition, the Dean will actively engage in developing a new strategic plan for student affairs.
The Dean is the primary problem-solver for issues involving students, working closely with Campus Safety, Title IX, faculty, department chairs, advisors, legal counsel, and others on a regular basis. The Dean provides leadership, strategic direction, and accountability for the administration, development, assessment, and improvement of students’ services and experiences in alignment with the university and campus mission and strategic plans.
Fostering effective collaborative partnerships with faculty, academic departments, and senior leadership to provide a seamless holistic learning environment that blends the classroom and out-of-classroom experience is vital. The Dean will collaborate with others to create pathways that advance diversity of all kinds, and continually build an inclusive community that promotes learning and well-being for all students.
The Dean oversees activities, personnel, and budget for the department/program areas that provide direct service to students and works in support of the overall Student Affairs Division. The position works under the direction of the Chancellor on the Prescott Campus to set goals, determine support needs, and provide oversight for the execution for the plans.
