Dunwoody College of Technology seeks nominations and applications for the 11th President of the Institution. After 13 years of dedicated service, President Rich Wagner will retire at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year. The next President will build upon his legacy of transformation and continue the College’s growth and momentum into the future.
Founded in 1914, Dunwoody College of Technology is the only private, not-for-profit technical college located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The College’s approach to hands-on, applied learning embraces the Dunwoody Difference. Dunwoody offers certificates, associate’s, and bachelor’s degrees in more than 40 majors— including engineering, robotics, design, architecture, automotive, computers, among other STEM-related fields.
The President is the chief executive officer of the institution, charged with promoting excellence in technical education and engaging passionately with the community. The role reports directly to the College’s Board of Trustees, comprised of senior executives in industries that align with the programs at the College. The direct reports to the President include the Provost, Vice President for Enrollment Management, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Vice President for Human Resources, Vice President for Administrative Services and Chief Financial Officer, and Chief of Staff.
The next president will be an experienced leader with deep knowledge and appreciation for applied technical education. Among the tasks for the next president will be advancing Dunwoody’s broad academic model to meet the needs of a dynamic workforce. They will offer a record of collaboration and transparent leadership with the ability to create consensus and move an organization forward. Demonstrated experience as a senior executive in higher education, military, government organizations, or private industry will be required for this role.
The anticipated start date for Dunwoody’s next president is July 1, 2024. The search committee will begin reviewing materials in the summer of 2023.
