Nila Bhaumik

We partnered with Pace University on the search for a Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Our work resulted in the recruitment of Nila Bhaumik to the role.

In this role, Bhaumik reports directly to the President and leads the planning and implementation of integrated human resources programs for all staff and faculty of Pace University. As Vice President of HR, she plans and directs the operations, programs and policies for all human resources functions including talent acquisition, employee and labor relations, talent development, benefits, compensation, and training and professional development.

Bhaumik has 27 years of experience in the field of Human Resources.

Prior to this position, she served as the Executive Director of Human Resources of Guttman Community College at the City University of New York. As Executive Director, she was responsible for overseeing and directing the College’s human resources functions and making ensuring compliance with University policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, as well as federal, state and local employment laws. She was an active member in crafting the College’s strategic and operational planning process and worked closely with the senior executive team in helping the college meet strategic priorities, enhance organizational effectiveness, improve processes and implement new directives.

Prior to her tenure at Guttman Community College, Bhaumik spent almost 20 years in the Human Resources Department at LaGuardia Community College of the City University of New York.

Bhaumik started her career in Human Resources at Stony Brook University and thanks her alma-mater, the Harriman School of Management and Policy at Stony Brook, that offered her an opportunity to venture into the field of human resources by offering her the position of Analyst in the Office of Compliance and Diversity.

She is a member of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

Bhaumik received her Master of Arts from Northeastern University, Boston, MA in Political Science and her Master of Science from Stony Brook University, SUNY, in Management & Policy. She completed her undergraduate degree in History with a minor in Political Science and Economics from Presidency College, Kolkata, India. Bhaumik is certified in Human Resources Studies and Equal Employment Opportunity Studies from Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
