We partnered with the New York City Employment and Training Coalition on the search for a Chief Executive Officer. Founded in 1997, the NYC Employment & Training Coalition is the voice of New York’s workforce development community. They are the largest city-based workforce development association in the country with over 200 members providing jobs for over 600,000 New Yorkers.
Our work resulted in the recruitment of Gregory Morris to the role.
With more than 25 years of experience serving as a leader, practitioner and advocate on a city and state level for education and workforce development, Morris will guide NYCETC’s efforts to respond to the City’s current labor market crisis. His advocacy to increase accessibility to the multi-generational, neighborhood-based efforts and initiatives in support of children, families, and seniors, and the strengthening of the human services sector will also help address historic disproportionate gaps in employment and earnings New Yorkers face across race, gender, age and industry.
Prior to his position as NYCETC’s CEO, Morris was the President and Executive Director of the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center). In 2021, Morris initiated and facilitated the merger of Isaacs Center and Goddard Riverside Community Center, two respected New York City settlement houses. Through the merger, Morris assumed oversight of organizational efforts to align, integrate, and expand service delivery.
Prior to Isaacs Center, Morris had been with The Children’s Aid Society (CAS), serving as its first Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the President and CEO. In this role, Morris served as co-lead applicant for Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School.
Prior to joining CAS, Morris served in senior leadership positions at The Door, A Center of Alternatives, Inc. and as Assistant Director at University Settlement Society of New York where he began his career in the nonprofit sector.
Morris is a member of Community Board 8 (CB8) in Manhattan and co-chair of CB’s Housing Committee. Morris has served on the Boards of the New York City Employment and Training Coalition (NYCETC), Human Services Council, and United Neighborhood Houses. He has served as the Co-Chair of the NYCETC Policy and Advocacy Committee and Vice Chair of the Human Services Council’s (HSC) Priority and Strategy Council. In 2021, he was a member of the Human Services Recovery Task Force.
Morris holds an an undergraduate degree from New York University. He earned his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Baruch College School of Public Affairs, and . He received an Advanced Certificate in Public Health from CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy.
