Koya | Diversified Search Group partnered with Lasell University on the appointment of Derek Pinto as Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA).
An innovator in education for over 150 years, Lasell University today is a comprehensive, coeducational university offering professionally oriented bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. Lasell is known for helping students connect classroom lessons and real-life through hands-on activities such as internships, practicum, service learning, and meaningful projects.
As Lasell’s new VPFA, Pinto oversees the Business and Finance Department, the Department of Facilities, Sustainable Management and Public Safety, the Department of Information Technology and Student Accounts – all of which support the academic and administrative departments of the University.
As Chief Financial Officer for both the University and Lasell Village, Derek is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the two institutions and advising the President on all matters of fiscal security and accountability, financial planning, and the stewardship of University resources. In addition, he provides leadership in the identification, market testing, implementation, and continual performance assessment of initiatives for new revenue generation and the development of associated business plans.
Before Lasell, Pinto was Vice President for Administrative Services at Laney College in Oakland, CA. He brings over 15 years of administrative experience in education, complemented by 6 years of classroom instruction.
Pinto holds two bachelor’s degrees from York University in Toronto. He earned an MBA from McGill University in Montreal, a master’s degree, and a doctorate in Education from California State University, San Bernardino.
