We partnered with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston on the search for a Chief of Learning and Community Engagement. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston houses and preserves preeminent collections and aspires to serve a wide variety of people through direct encounters with works of art.
Our work resulted in the recruitment of Darcy-Tell Morales to the role.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Morales (she/her) has always had a passion for the arts, education, and equity. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Communications Design from Pratt Institute, she worked for several college access programs, including Prep for Prep and the Harlem Educational Activities Fund. Her work focused on youth development, leadership, and academic enrichment for middle and high school students. After obtaining a master’s degree in Learning and Teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, she worked at the NYC Department of Education and then Newark Public Schools, where she focused on parent engagement initiatives. She then returned to non-profit work as the Senior Director for Girls Initiatives at the YWCA of the City of New York where she launched their Girls programming on leadership, STEAM, and social justice. She has experience creating and developing educational, leadership, and youth development programming for young people. Her most recent role as the Educator in Charge of Teaching and Learning at The Metropolitan Museum of Art brings together her commitment to the arts and provides access to new audiences. At The Met, Morales oversaw the Family and Teen Programs team, the School and Educator team, and the Museum Teaching and Volunteer Administration team to develop learning experiences for visitors at the museum. She has worked also on Teens Take The Met! which grew to an audience of over 5,000 teens, collaborated on a range of festivals including MetFest (the museum’s first festival after the Covid shutdown), and oversaw the launch of the 81st Street Studio and Teen Fridays. She has constantly considered and worked on ways that content and technique can help develop people’s artistic voices while developing fun and engaging programs that get people interested in The Met’s collection.
Morales serves on the Junior Board of Project Rousseau and is a board member of Art and Resistance through Education (ARTE).
In her free time, Morales is a maker who enjoys spending time with her husband and pit bull, and is deeply committed to social justice.
