George Theotokatos

Managing Associate

Executive Search, Managing Associate, Nonprofit and Social Impact

At Koya Partners – a part of Diversified Search Group – George focuses on candidate development and client support for mission-driven executive searches.

As a queer man, George is passionate about applying an approach to search that is rooted in equity and justice – with the intent to center and uplift the work and contributions of historically marginalized communities. George uses he/him/his pronouns.

George recruits diverse slates of leaders through targeted outreach and skillful candidate cultivation across searches for a broad range of clients.

Representative clients include National Network of Abortion Funds, Catholics for Choice, Call2Recycle, Center on Halsted, Children’s Home + Aid, Loyola University Chicago, National Equity Fund, and YMCA of Metro Chicago, among others.

Prior to joining Koya Partners, George was with Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC), the region’s premier convener, connector, and mobilizer of bold leaders to effect transformative civic impact. As Program Manager, he supported the work of LGC to invest in cross-sector collaboration in Chicago by developing local leaders around the issues of civic and social engagement.

George began his career working in higher education at universities in Illinois and Massachusetts. At those institutions, he focused on working with students from historically marginalized identity groups to provide orientation, training, and leadership development services on behalf of the universities.

He serves on the School Board of Plato Academy, a local elementary school that is part of the Progressive Education Network, which roots its pedagogy in the Ancient Greek practices of Philotimo, or the “duty to do what’s right.” George is also a member of the Board for the Chicago Chapter of New Leaders Council, a leadership development organization for progressive Millennials. Additionally, he is a member of the Hellenic-American Leadership Council, a national network of Greek American community leaders who have distinguished themselves in American civic life to encourage an active form of citizenship.
