Anne McCarthy brings deep executive search experience partnering with a broad range of mission-driven clients active in the fields of philanthropy, arts and culture, conservation and environment, social services, membership organizations, and beyond.

Anne has successfully led searches for CEOs, Presidents, Directors, Executive Directors, and Board members in addition to searches for a variety of functional roles, including CFOs, COOs, CMOs, and program officers.

In philanthropy, clients include the Obama Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, the Fidelity Foundations, the Field Foundation of Illinois, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, Hudson-Webber Foundation, and the Chicago Foundation for Women.

Anne has deep experience in the field of arts and culture. She has partnered with the following clients, among others, on CEO and Director searches: Academy of Arts and Sciences, Arts Midwest, Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Chicago Botanic Garden, Ganna Walska Lotusland, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Kohl Children’s Museum, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Naples Botanic Garden, The Newark Museum, New Bedford Whaling Museum, and the Pritzker Architecture Prize. She has also partnered with Chicago Public Media, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Newark Museum, and Window to the World Communications (WTTW/WFMT), among others, to recruit C-suite executives.

Within health and human services and education, Anne has led CEO and C-suite searches for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Cradles to Crayons, Easterseals National, Innovations for Learning, the Latin School of Chicago, Institute for Recruitment of Teachers, United Way, and the University of Chicago.

A common thread throughout Anne’s work is a proven commitment to understanding her clients’ unique needs while facilitating a proactive, thoughtful, hands-on, and customized process that ensures a successful placement. This commitment includes candid and direct guidance around diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as they relate to both recruitment and the organizational capacity needed to support and realize these efforts at the Board and staff level.

Anne’s success in ensuring the right match is demonstrated by the retention rate of the executives she has placed – since joining Koya Partners more than six years ago, more than 96% of her placements remain in their roles.

Prior to joining Koya Partners – a part of Diversified Search Group – Anne worked for a retained executive search firm and specialized in assignments for clients in the Insurance and Industrial industries.

Anne began her career at the Kellogg Center for Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University. There, she managed executive education programming focused on leadership development, fundraising, innovation, marketing, and strategic planning.
