The Department of Neurology at Atrium Health Neurosciences Institute in Charlotte, NC, in partnership with Grant Cooper, announces a national search for a Section Chief, Cognitive Neurology. We invite fellowship-trained, board eligible/board-certified neurologists to consider joining our outstanding program. Atrium Health Neurosciences Institute is a key pillar within the health system’s strategic priorities, and one of three focus areas of the Atrium’s Design for Impact strategic plan to improve the value and quality of health care.
The Department of Neurology and the Neurosciences Institute is located within Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, one of North Carolina’s academic medical center teaching hospitals, which provides residency training for over 200 physicians in 15 specialties. Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center is undergoing an extensive renovation, ensuring that Wake Forest School of Medicine students will have access to the most modern, state-of-the-art facilities and technology in all of their learning environments.
We invite highly qualified candidates who are committed to excellence in patient care, possess strong clinical skills, and have an interest in academics. Candidates should have experience and expertise in Cognitive Neurology. Leadership or administrative experience is a plus.
The Neurology Department at Atrium Health is a rapidly growing network of 70+ neurology providers that support 15 care locations across the greater Charlotte region.
Atrium Health administers the largest stroke network in the Charlotte metropolitan area and one of the fastest growing cities in the country. The growing academic department brings exciting opportunities for innovative patient care, team-based care models, teaching, and research.
To support growth and investment in a robust, multi-disciplinary, and innovative cognitive neurology program, philanthropic fundraising efforts are well underway to create endowed funds to support this initiative. As such, it is envisioned that the new Section Chief will have access to development fund resources to invest towards program building and research initiatives.
Qualifications include:
M.D. (or equivalent degree) in a related field of study.
Board certification (or eligibility) and eligibility for medical licensure in North Carolina.
Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry Certification through the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UNOS) is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership experience including administrative experience and skills is preferred.
Strong clinical skills and desire to maintain a vibrant clinical practice.
A track-record of scholarly activity.
