About Western National Parks Association

Western National Parks Association (WNPA) is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation which supports the educational, scientific, and interpretive activities of the National Park Service (NPS).  WNPA was formed in 1938 as a cooperating association to the NPS to support park programs and projects not covered by government funding.  Today, WNPA’s mission is to advance education, interpretation, research, and community engagement with more than 70 park partners in 12 states throughout the West, from California to Kansas, and from Texas to Montana.  WNPA’s affiliated parks are highly diverse, representing some of the most important natural, historical, and cultural resources of the United States, such as Saguaro National Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Channel Islands National Park, and Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site.

The Opportunity

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic goals, vision and mission for the future of WNPA.  WNPA, through prudence and planning, has weathered the financial challenges of the past two years and is financially very strong.  The Board of Directors seeks an inclusive, thoughtful, and strategic leader who is committed to WNPA’s mission and has the skills and experience to lead the organization as it transitions to a higher level of mission impact.
