Position Overview

The Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer will serve as the chief nurse executive for his/her respective facility, ensuring the coordination and direction of nursing/patient care in accordance with the Norton Healthcare Strategic Plan and in alignment with the traditions of service excellence for Norton Healthcare. The successful candidate will participate in the development of strategies and tactics relative to the professional practice of nursing within the facility and system, as well as work with other facility and system administration to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations related to the delivery of nursing/patient care services.

The incumbent in this role has dual accountability with the facility president for achieving quality of care outcomes, improvement and attainment of patient satisfaction/experience survey results, creating and maintaining an engaging environment for staff and ensuring patient service margins are attained. The Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer will assist in creating and sustaining a collaborative and collegial environment with the respective facility and system medical staff. It is recognized this position will function in a highly matrixed environment and as a result, will demonstrate exceptional communication skills and a well-developed ability to persuade others.


  • Five or more years of progressive leadership in nursing.
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing, Doctorate Degree preferred.
  • Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky.
