Like many top universities, the University of Michigan has utilized the services of numerous consulting firms to assist strategic and business transformation projects. This role, the Chief Consulting Officer is designed to reduce the University’s reliance on consulting firms, utilizing an internal consulting group to design, lead and execute these projects. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance and working closely with the EVP/COO the inaugural Chief Consulting Officer will build and lead a new team (new department) that will provide internal business and financial consulting and implementation services to the university community. As a member of the Finance Leadership Team, this role will focus on building an internal consulting capability to help units solve complex business and financial problems; identify new revenue opportunities and new service delivery models and capabilities; provide business and financial advisory services on complex issues; and lead/assist with the implementation of solutions to support the mission activities of the university. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance (AVPF), this position will support both the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (EVPCFO) and the Associate Vice President for Finance.
