SSM Health is looking to hire for a strategy and business development position in Tacoma, WA.Based in St. Louis, SSM Health cares for people in a variety of settings including 20 hospitals, numerous physician offices, a pharmacy benefit company, an insurance company, nursing homes, home care, hospice, tele-health and a technology company. It has affiliations with several rural hospitals, while operating facilities in four states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma. In FY2015, more than 1.5 million people came to SSM Health for care. SSM Health has more than 31,000 employees, 8,500 employed and affiliated physicians, 9,500 nurses and nearly 4,000 volunteers. It was the first health care recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige Award and was the first large health system to go tobacco-free throughout the entire campus.

SSM Health’s Wisconsin region is a fully-integrated healthcare network that includes the SSM Health Dean Medical Group (a multi-specialty clinic with nearly 800 total care providers), the Dean Health Plan (a health insurance provider offering both individual and family health plans), and SSM Health Hospitals and ambulatory care delivery sites. These three key elements of care delivery work seamlessly together under the same organization. For this reason, the Wisconsin region can capitalize on a wide variety of strategic opportunities related to both care delivery and payment reform that are not available to other health systems.

Position Overview

The System Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the Wisconsin Region will be responsible for developing, driving and implementing strategy for SSM Health Wisconsin (including support to care delivery and health plan operations) by overseeing the identification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities as well as developing and implementing short and long-range strategic plans in support of the strategic direction of SSM Health.


  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced strategy executive, with at least ten years of leadership and a track record of increasing responsibility in high-performing strategy and business development programs.
  • Master’s degree in business, communications and/or related field is required.
