Out & Equal Workplace Advocates (O&E) is the world’s premier nonprofit organization dedicated to achieving lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workplace equality. We partner with Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies to provide executive leadership development, comprehensive training and consultation, and professional networking opportunities that build inclusive and welcoming work environments.

Since 1996, we have worked with executives, human resources professionals, Employee Resource Groups, and individuals to provide leadership and professional development, education, and research to create workplaces free of discrimination. O&E hosts the annual Workplace Summit where employees and experts from across the globe gather to share strategies and best practices to create diverse and inclusive workplaces that foster belonging for LGBTQ people around the world. Our stakeholders are predominantly working in Fortune 1000 companies (global multi-nationals) and US government agencies. Besides the US, we focus on the LatAm (Brazil), India and APAC regions. In the US, we are focused on the Southern States/rural areas where efforts to achieve LGBTQ equality may face specific cultural challenges or nuances.

Led by CEO Erin Uritus, O&E is a global convener, thought leader, and catalyst actively working to achieve workplaces of equality and belonging. O&E provides critical value supporting LGBTQ employees and professionals who thrive in their careers and lives and want to achieve greater impact on the world. O&E has an annual budget between $7-9M and employs 20+ staff. While O&E offices are based in Oakland, CA and Washington, D.C., candidates from D.C. or New York, NY are preferred.

The Opportunity

The Chief Revenue & Growth Officer (CRGO) will be responsible for overseeing an evolved revenue generation strategy and the team who will deliver it, including business development, generating and executing corporate and government partnerships, partner relationship management support, staff “sales” coaching, programs/services valuation, and pricing, and marketing strategy. Together with other members of the executive team, the CRGO will execute Out & Equal’s strategic growth plan, focusing on expanding revenue streams, and expansion to new customer segments and partnerships, while strengthening operations that help enable and deliver on the strategy in new and innovative ways. The ideal candidate will lead with an entrepreneurial spirit, and be adept at evolving and leveraging technology (e.g. Salesforce) and data to inform business decisions, set growth targets, streamline fulfillment/delivery, and evaluate partner progress the relationship and their contracts with O&E.

Highlighted responsibilities include:
  • Develop, execute, and refine O&E’s comprehensive data-driven strategic planning to deliver sustainable revenue, working closely with members of the executive team.
  • Drive growth in revenue by setting data-based targets for the organization overall, as well as for each member of the Corporate Engagement team.
  • Implement a five-year plan for extensive growth across the Fortune 500/1000 (more than doubling our current partnerships) and mid-sized businesses and develop annual goals and workstream to meet them.
  • Research, develop and oversee the execution of an individual-focused revenue stream, marketing to and serving LGBTQ professionals in their professional & leadership development, and networking.
  • Establish KPI frameworks and methodology for measuring revenue success and forecasting.
  • Collaborate across the organization, in particular with the Managing Director/Chief Program and Partnerships Officer (MD/CCPO), to enable growth in O&E’s products, programs, and partnerships.
  • Ensure competitiveness of service by evaluating broader market and current partner needs, leveraging technical tools/surveys/outreach in strategic and methodical ways.
  • Work closely and thought partner with O&E CEO and MD/CCPO on highest tier partnerships, providing expertise across the portfolio.
  • Identify, pursue, and convert high-level/high-value leads and business prospects with confidentiality and respect while centering LGBTQ workplace inclusion and intersectional allyship.
  • Monitor revenue pipeline and leads, providing quarterly reports to the executive team.
  • Oversee contract standards for business partnerships and execution of partnership agreements to ensure requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with the O&E Marketing and Communications team on messaging, strategies, business models, and technology, to achieve revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with Chief Finance and Administrative Officer (CFAO) to measure and analyze current revenue and streams, offerings, and relationships to optimize business growth and revenue strategy.
  • Guide the development of internal processes, reference documents, and materials to mature Corporate Engagement team strategy.
  • Monitor the performance of the Corporate Engagement team by establishing a system of quarterly reports, rewards, and communications.
  • Cultivate relationships with key corporate constituents and identify media opportunities and/or opportunities for program collaboration.
  • Supervise a team of XXX and serve as a coach, mentor, and team player who motivates staff with energy and passion, ensuring clear expectations and accountability.
  • Inspire, lead, and guide staff as well as to interact effectively with high level contacts within and outside of O&E

Customer Insight and Market Intelligence

An experienced growth and revenue leader, they possess an expert understanding of key financial and marketing metrics that drive profitability and success. They identify and corporate levers and partners, effectively engage and grow their audiences, and exhibit creativity in developing robust revenue streams. They deeply understand the marketplace and partner with cross functional teams to deepen the pipeline full of potential customers and partners for new business opportunities, uncover and troubleshoot prospective pain points, and communicate clearly with key constituents to identify the best and most effective opportunities for growth.

Data-Informed Decision Making

An inquisitive leader, The CRGO possesses strong technical understanding and uses data-informed decision making to analyze, assess, and unlock audience insights. They partner with executive leadership, partners, and current and prospective clients to effectively manage and diversify revenue, communicate results, pivot accordingly, and develop effective, growth-oriented business models through transparent dialogue and effective communication with their partners, peers, and teams. Technically savvy, they leverage systems, functions, and opportunities to set and achieve KPIs tied to strategic goals and objectives across their organization.

In addition, strong candidates will offer:

  • Proven track record in corporate engagement, relationship management, business development, and/or fundraising.
  • Deep knowledge of DEI field and corporate trends in this space to effectively oversee organizational contract offerings, upgrades, and business development strategies.
  • Background in developing and acquiring grants a plus.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which considers years of experience, location, job category, and other factors but the base salary will start at $180K. O&E has a generous benefits package including:

  • Medical, vision, and dental covered up to 100%.
  • Paid Time Off accrues at 3 weeks per year for the first and second years in addition to 10 office holidays and sick leave.
  • 401k plan with employer match up to 5% and a 6% safe harbor contribution after one year (11% total).
  • Locations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, D.C.
