The Mays Cancer Center and UT Health San Antonio seeks a Gastrointestinal Medical Oncologist to join their growing and flourishing program. The Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, is the only NCI-designated cancer center in South Texas, covering a 38-county service area extending to the border with Mexico and a population of patients that is 69% Hispanic. The Mays Cancer Center is led by Executive Director, Ruben Mesa, MD, who joined the organization in 2017 from Mayo Clinic with an esteemed research and publication record. Oncology programs at UTHSA are experiencing rapid growth and exciting new opportunities. Mays Cancer Center recently entered into partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center, and UTHSA has just broken ground on a new $430M specialty hospital that will open in 2024 to offer specialty care in cancer, orthopedics, urology, and thoracic and bariatric surgery. The eight-story, 144-bed facility will be connected by a sky Bridge to the Mays Cancer Center. UT Health San Antonio and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center created a strong clinical and research affiliation in 2017 that has provided increased access to MD Anderson’s treatment protocols, standards of care, extensive clinical trials and translational research in San Antonio. M.D./D.O. with board certification in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, specialized expertise and desire to focus on gastrointestinal medical oncology.

Academic accomplishments and credentials sufficient to qualify at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at UT Health San Antonio.
