Lee Health, based in Fort Myers, Florida, seeks applications and nominations for a seasoned leader to serve as Chief Nurse Executive, Ambulatory Services. 

Lee Health is a public, not-for-profit health system with revenues of approximately $2.3B and 1865 beds over four acute care hospitals and a total of 95 locations.  With 1.5 million patient contacts each year, Lee Health is the largest public health system in the state of Florida, receiving no direct tax support.  Lee Health enjoys a dominant market share for both inpatient and outpatient services in the counties it offers services. The system also includes Lee Physician Group (LPG), a large multi-specialty group practice with 825 providers working across the Lee Health facilities which include three ambulatory surgery centers, a home health agency, three skilled nursing facilities, 11 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC-Las) and four urgent care clinics.  Lee Health is in a state of rapid expansion to keep up with the area’s steep population growth and hold the System’s competitive market position.

The Chief Nurse Executive, Ambulatory Services (CNE) position will be key to the continued success of Lee Health as it expands through development of LPG and adding to its ambulatory footprint.  Reporting to the Chief Officer, Community-Based Care with a matrixed reporting relationship to Lee Health’s system Chief Nurse Executive, the CNE will be charged with collaboratively designing and providing patient care and nursing services with a focus on increasing quality and reducing cost. The CNE, along with the divisional nursing leaders and the LPG Chief Medical Officer, will provide direction to an organized nursing staff as well as other clinical and support staff to promote safe, quality patient care and nursing services in a professionally supportive environment on a continuous basis. The CNE will be responsible for ensuring that consistent nursing standards guide the provision of nursing care where nursing care is provided.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an ambulatory setting. Previous senior-level service line management experience seen favorably.
  • Proven ability to participate in developing and implementing organizational strategies to improve the delivery of care in a growing outpatient healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of nursing care.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, as well as a Master’s in Nursing, or MHA, MBA or equivalent.
  • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Florida, or ability to become licensed.
  • Certification in Nursing Administration or appropriate specialty.
