About KMFA Classical 89.5
KMFA Classical 89.5 is a vibrant, non-profit, listener-supported independent classical music station in Austin, Texas, one of the nation’s most dynamic, innovative, and fastest growing cities. KMFA is the sole classical music format station in Central Texas, serving approximately 100,000 listeners each week with a compelling mix of locally produced programs like Classical Austin, Early Music Now, and From the Butler School, as well as nationally distributed programming from American Public Media (APM) and NPR.
Recognized for its “on key, offbeat” programming mix of the familiar and the unexpected, KMFA’s mission is to uplift, entertain, and educate Central Texas by providing the best in classical music and cultural programming. KMFA locally curates and hosts all but two hours per day in its program schedule. The station’s Listen Local initiative broadcasts Austin’s finest classical music performances, making classical music and cultural events available to all, and its Early Music Now program is carried by more than 150 stations across the nation. World-premiere broadcasts of Nico Muhly’s “How Little You Are” and Craig Hella Johnson’s “Considering Matthew Shepard” further demonstrate KMFA’s commitment to adventurous programming.
KMFA is seeking an innovative, mission-driven, and growth-oriented Chief Executive Officer to lead an exciting new era of service across platforms.
Building on its rich history, KMFA has an opportunity to become an even more recognized and revered institution in the region’s arts and cultural landscape, and a catalyst for the discovery and appreciation of classical music in all forms.
