The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is the largest, most comprehensive facility for medical treatment, medical education, and biomedical research in Arkansas. UAMS impacts the state of Arkansas economy by generating 18,500 jobs and $3.92 billion expenditures annually. As the only medical school in a state with 2.96 million people, UAMS enjoys statewide support from Arkansas’ citizens and a cooperative relationship with the state legislature. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has a strong and growing renal transplant program. Currently the program transplants approximately 80 patients per year with plans to grow the program to 100 per year over the next several years. The program is strongly supported by the institution and closely affiliated with the liver transplant program. The division of nephrology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences seeks to recruit a senior or mid-career transplant nephrologist at the associate professor or professor level. The transplant nephrology director will oversee all medical aspects of the renal transplant program including clinical care, development of a strong research program, mentoring of faculty and fellows and administration.
- MD or DO Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
- Five to ten years of experience in a renal transplant setting.
- Proven ability to perform scholarly research.
- Proven ability to mentor scholarly research.
- Academic medical center experience preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of healthcare trends and forces shaping transplant delivery systems.
