WildEarth Guardians, often referred to as “Guardians,” exists to protect what remains of the wild, restore what has been damaged, and build human communities that celebrate diversity and live in greater harmony with nature. Core to its identity is a belief in the intrinsic value not only of all species, but also of all ecological processes—from flood to fire. Guardians believes that the dynamism of the land is key to our resilience in our climate-constrained present and future.
Guardians’ unwavering dedication to conservation, advocacy, and legal initiatives aims to catalyze positive change in environmental policies and decision-making at state and federal levels in the Western U.S. The organization’s team of passionate professionals works collaboratively to engage communities, inspire public awareness, and drive transformative actions that protect and restore nature.
Guardians believes that social and environmental justice are deeply intertwined, and that it can and should do more to create a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and just organization and world. Guardians is committed to deepening its work to partner with frontline communities who are disproportionately harmed by existing systems to build power for environmental, social, and economic justice. Guardians is dedicated to strengthening its efforts to collaborate with frontline communities to improve ecosystem health and vitality, and environmental health for disproportionately affected communities. Guardians is working to become a better ally and accomplice in realigning traditional conservation and environmentalism with the pillars of environmental justice, and uplifting the voices of others to create deeper understanding and strategies to protect wildlife ecosystems and address issues related to climate change in creative ways.
