Florida International University (FIU) seeks an energetic, seasoned advancement leader with extensive fundraising and operational experience to serve as Senior Vice President for Advancement & CEO (SVP & CEO) of the FIU Foundation. The only public research university in Miami and the fifth largest public university in the nation, FIU has been serving the dynamic south Florida region since its opening in 1972. FIU has a current student body of more than 55,000 students and an alumni body of nearly 300,000. The University will complete its first comprehensive capital campaign in June 2023, having raised more than $800 million.

The FIU Foundation pays an integral role in supporting FIU’s goals and continued success by raising philanthropic funds, engaging university alumni and donors, and managing the University’s endowment and strategic investments. This is a tremendous opportunity for an innovative leader to aid a dynamic, fast-paced, and expanding university reach new heights. Reporting directly to the FIU President for University Advancement responsibilities and to the FIU Foundation Board Chairman for Foundation responsibilities, the SVP & CEO will partner with the Foundation Board of Directors, the University Board of Trustees, and University senior leadership to identify and support the needs of the University and provide active leadership and guidance in advancing the University’s strategic goals. The SVP & CEO will lead an innovative and diverse team of more than 110 professional and support staff poised to celebrate the conclusion of an ambitious and successful campaign.
While candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences are welcome, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to connect a passion for fundraising and alumni engagement to the University’s mission and values. Lead candidates will possess the leadership, strategic thinking skills, and managerial acumen necessary to inspire and motivate a dedicated team and evolving program. Candidates should demonstrate measurable success in major and principal gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship and the capability of leading teams to raise $80-100m annually and have aptitude to scale beyond $100 million; experience enhancing alumni engagement and proven success building and strengthening relationships to increase giving and engagement; and experience in post-campaign planning and implementation while building strategy and capacity for the next campaign. In addition, the SVP & CEO will possess the skills and abilities to be a rigorous steward of the University’s investments and resources. Candidates should possess the ability to thrive and embrace the dynamic, multi-cultural community of South Florida. An earned bachelor’s degree is required, with an advanced degree or study preferred.

Compensation: While the final salary will be very competitive and based on selected candidate’s experience, the range will start at $400,000. FIU offers excellent benefits, which are outlined here.
