Director of Major Gifts
WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.
About Health Care Without Harm
Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) works to transform the health sector worldwide so that it reduces its environmental footprint and becomes a community anchor for sustainability and a leader in the global movement for environmental health and justice.
With partners around the world, HCWH has worked for more than 25 years to implement ecologically sound and healthy alternatives to health care practices that pollute the environment and contribute to disease. HCWH was founded on the basis of environmental health and justice: that every person deserves the right to live in a healthy environment, while recognizing that people of color and people who are economically disadvantaged are disproportionately impacted by environmental degradation, resulting in elevated rates of disease, poverty, and shorter life expectancy. HCWH activates the power of the health care sector to address the harms and inequities in its practices and drive a new social contract between health care and the communities they serve.
HCWH has created and implemented powerful change efforts related to promoting environmentally-friendly health care facilities, eliminating harmful chemicals, supporting healthy and sustainable food, and developing conservation, recycling and treatment actions to reduce hospital water consumption and pollution. In recent years, HCWH has also established itself as a world leader on climate change and health, developing tools and strategies that can help hospitals and health systems move toward low-carbon health care delivery and broadening the climate conversation to include a powerful public health dimension.
With offices on three continents and partners around the world, HCWH is leveraging the health sector’s expertise, purchasing power, political clout, workforce development, and moral authority to create the conditions for healthy people, communities, and the environment. Working closely with HCWH, Practice Greenhealth is the leading nonprofit membership and network organization for sustainable health care, delivering environmental solutions to more than 1,100 members throughout the United States.
