About BGA
The Better Government Association is a non-partisan, nonprofit news organization and civic advocate working for transparency, equity and accountability in government in Chicago and across Illinois.
Under the leadership of President and CEO David Greising, the BGA has furthered its reputation as one of the region’s most respected sources of investigative reporting and most trusted voices for good government. The BGA has consistently broken major stories in the public interest and has won numerous awards for its journalism. In 2022, reporters from the BGA won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on Chicago’s long history of failed building-and fire-safety code enforcement.
As the BGA enters its next century of impact, it is embarking on an ambitious effort to strengthen local journalism, deepen public engagement, and improve government. It has recently launched the Illinois Answers Project website, an investigative and solutions-focused news outlet that features content from the BGA and an array of publishing partners. The website is the public-facing centerpiece of an ambitious new initiative called the Illinois Solutions Project.
