University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMass Chan) and UMass Memorial Health (UMMH), Worcester seek a distinguished, dynamic, and collaborative nephrology leader with a strong clinical and academic foundation to serve as the next Chief, Division of Renal Medicine. As the leader of the Division, the Chief will be responsible for the growth and advancement of research, faculty recruitment and development, scholarly activity, and teaching excellence for the Division. The Division strives to be a nationally recognized nephrology program through advancing clinical, educational, research and scholarly activities with the goal of being a top tier division in all areas. The new Chief will have the opportunity to lead this endeavor and to shape the growth of nephrology services across the UMass Chan and UMMH System. They will be intimately involved in developing and executing a strategic plan and vision for integrated kidney care while working closely with community nephrology leaders to collaboratively advance the delivery of kidney care to the hospitals' patient populations.
Reporting to David McManus, MD, ScM, Richard M. Haidack Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine, the incoming Chief must be passionate about building collaborative research programs of excellence, mentoring outstanding junior faculty, and continuing to advance renal medicine on the national/international stage. There is opportunity to build clinical programs, especially in intensive care nephrology, interventional nephrology, onco-nephrology, transplant nephrology and translational research.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding academic leader with demonstrated ability to set a vision and effectively inspire, manage, and mentor. In addition, the successful candidate will have an actively funded research program in basic, translational, clinical or health services research, strong academic credentials from institutions of high repute, appropriate board certification in nephrology, and a distinguished record and accomplishments across all missions. They will be a leader that demonstrates the collaborative ability to work well with multiple partners and stakeholders.

We seek candidates with prior administrative and leadership experience gained within an academic division of nephrology, and strong interpersonal and communication skills that complement a passion for excellence and achievement.
Required Qualifications:
- MD, Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Nephrology
- Eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts
This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Massachusetts. Salary commensurate with experience with a generous benefits package.
