ABOUT WORKING ASSUMPTIONS
Working Assumptions (WA) is a Bay-Area nonprofit arts and education organization.
Working Assumptions facilitates the creation of cultural content that describes the unmeasured value of work, paid and unpaid, that people do each day to care for each other, their families and their communities. Often caregiving is hiding in plain sight. Working Assumptions demonstrates that by supporting people to shift the lens in their own lives, they may pierce this invisibility, and in doing so, turn ordinary care into an elevated reality that makes it easier to talk about with others whose views about care may be different.
The wrkxfmly program supports high school and college students to photograph and write about work and family in their lives. Students are motivated to be part of a national project that connects their expressed ideas about care with respected artists, curators, educators and peers. They learn about authorship and the interplay between public and private. The program is supported via a powerful custom-built web app that streamlines the workflow of students, teachers, teaching artists, curators, and administrators.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The President will hold a special role during an unprecedented time; though the wrkxfmly program has been running for almost a decade, the pandemic highlighted the ways families function. In partnership with Jane and a board of trusted advisors, the President will be the go-to person for all things WA. At a high level, the President will focus on shaping an education and public engagement strategy, seeking out new opportunities to advance the mission, overseeing all WA related activity, and managing the full-time staff and roster of consultants. The President will advance their personal and professional vision by positioning WA for sustainable impact.
