Over the past 40 years, Main Street America (“MSA”) has led a transformational movement, working with 2000+ communities around the country to revitalize and re-energize their downtown commercial districts. MSA is incorporated as National Main Street Center, Inc. and is a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Main Street America works to help communities understand the connection between creating quality places and economic competitiveness and equips them with the tools to make that connection a reality. Since its inception, MSA’s approach has earned a reputation as one of the most powerful economic development tools in the nation, generating over $95 billion in reinvestments in downtown areas.
The Opportunity
The next Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) will build upon 40 years of legacy of the Main Street Program and a decade of growth and excellence as a subsidiary to continue Main Street America’s goal of advancing prosperity, creating resilient economies and improving quality of life through place-based economic development and community preservation.
Leveraging the expertise and reach of MSA’s diverse constituency, the next CEO will implement the new strategic plan; direct all operations and activities; represent MSA to its network and members, as well as the broader nonprofit, business, government and civic communities; and implement policies, programs and procedures in a manner that is fiscally responsible and consistent with the organization's values and strategic goals as it continues to grow and evolve.The CEO will continue to lead and advance diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within the entire MSA ecosystem.
The CEO will work to evaluate and establish new programs, partnerships and processes that allow for a more inclusive approach to its work and establish MSA as a preeminent thought leader around equity in the place-based economic development and community preservation fields.
