Head of School
WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.
Beacon Academy invites nominations and applications for an innovative, thoughtful, and inspiring leader to serve as its next Head of School, effective July 1, 2023.
Beacon Academy is a Montessori high school that brings together independent school best practices and challenging IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum with independence, freedom, and a student-centered approach. Beacon students experience a learning community that inspires self-motivation and personal challenge and celebrates intellectual, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity. Based in Evanston, Illinois, but using the entirety of Chicago as a classroom, Beacon Academy is designed to home about 200-220 students.
Beacon Academy pedagogy is based on the development of students' sense of themselves as individuals who are also integral parts of their communities. Students are given the opportunity through both their required and elective coursework to build grade-level bonds and work with mixed-aged groups. Just as in the mixed-age classrooms of Montessori Early Childhood programs, this combination offers students space to navigate the new social, physical, and intellectual realities of adolescence with their cohort as well as by learning from older peers.
The search committee for Beacon Academy’s next Head of School is now accepting applications for this opportunity. Requested application materials include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and a professional reference list. References will not be called without explicit permission. Applications will be welcomed until a new Head of School is selected.
