Catholic Health’s Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking a strong CPHQ executive to serve as Vice President of Performance Improvement to strategically lead its clinical quality improvement initiatives, department, and metrics.
The Vice President’s major duties and responsibilities include:
- Directs the overall functions of the PI department.
- Leads the development and implementation of performance improvement projects, policies, and metrics for the Hospital Departmental Performance Improvement and Ambulatory Site Performance Improvement and Clinical Medical Department Performance Improvement programs.
- Oversees and runs the Readmissions Reduction Committee, HAC Reduction Meeting, 5 Star Improvement Committee and Fresenius PI contractual metrics meeting.
- Manages the review of all potential Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC) from the Epic work queue in conjunction with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) department.
- Generates the Quality/Safety/Experience Executive dashboard for the CMO
- Presents at the Quality Management Committee (QMC) of the CH Board.
- Writes the Annual Performance Improvement Plan for the hospital.
- Ensures the completion of the Leapfrog annual survey that includes Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) in a live environment that includes multiple disciplines.
- Attends hospital wide Peer Review meetings and tracks clinical issues and mortalities.
- Represents GSH as appropriate to Catholic Health in areas of Performance Improvement.
- Directs and develops facility-wide PI initiatives and projects utilizing PDSA, Lean, and Six Sigma techniques as appropriate.
- Utilizes conflict resolution and negotiating skills to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for staff, hospital personnel and physicians in the recommendation of performance improvement projects.
- Educates and coaches Department Directors in process improvement methods to achieve positive impact.
- Keeps abreast of current trends and innovations in clinical safety and performance improvement.
- Establishes systems and structures designed to improve performance metrics.
- Integrates data and information from peer review, regulatory agencies, patient safety and chart reviews as they relate to working with clinical departments to improve care.
- Presents performance improvement materials at Medical Board and Performance Improvement committees.
- Master’s Degree in a healthcare related field of study.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and or Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP) strongly preferred.
- Licensed Health Care Professional is preferred but not required.
- 10+ years increasingly responsible leadership experience in healthcare administration, management or operations required.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues in partnership with clinical care providers required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of staff in an effective and professional manner required.
