The Opportunity
Humanity United (HU) is seeking a self-motivated, adaptable, and collaborative Senior Manager, Program Learning and Impact, who will bridge between HU’s core Strategy, Learning and Impact function and the Forced Labor and Human Trafficking program team. You can read more about core values here.
Over the last two years, the Forced Labor and Human Trafficking (FLHT) team has been piloting a learning plan to support learning and adaptation around their strategy. The Senior Manager will be a critical member of the FLHT team, helping to bridge a wide range of programmatic learning and sensemaking activities. The Senior Manager will lead and facilitate across the full breadth of the team’s learning processes, helping the team explore learning questions, capture data to inform decision-making, make sense of that data, and adapt the learning plan. As part of this process, the Senior Manager will support co-learning with partners and grantees, engage with experts and stakeholders in the field, and help the team advance their learning skills. To be successful in supporting the team’s learning journey, the Senior Manager will need to be well versed in complexity aware learning methods (for example, outcome harvesting, most significant change, causal layer analysis, social network analysis, etc.) and the existing research around Forced Labor and Human Trafficking. The Senior Manager will also be skilled in facilitation and guiding teams to outcomes.

This person will also serve as a weaver, liaising between specific initiatives and connecting different pieces of information to inform the team’s learning questions. The role will be a trusted partner in supporting learning across the team, but will not replace the learning responsibilities of each team member. Ultimately, this role will help the FLHT team, in conjunction with their partners, make sense of and communicate programmatic outcomes and how these efforts contribute to sustainable systems-level social change.
This is a full-time, exempt role, reporting to the Senior Director of Strategy, Learning and Impact (SL&I). The Senior Manager will spend approximately 10% of their time with the SL&I team to ensure alignment with the core SL&I practice and to help adapt the practice to meet the realities of the program work. The remainder of their time they will spend working in partnership with the FLHT team, working especially with the Managing Director to support, lead and guide portfolio-wide learning efforts. The SL&I team will provide thought-partnership and professional development in complexity-aware methodologies. The Senior Manager will participate in all SL&I team meetings, retreats, and learning sessions, contribute to building the SL&I team culture, and be responsible for understanding and adhering to SL&I practice in their work with the FLHT team.
