Lancaster General Health, part of the Penn Medicine system, seeks applications and nominations for a highly accomplished leader to serve as Chief Financial Officer.
Based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health (LGH) is a not-for-profit health system with a comprehensive network of care including four hospitals with a total of 786 licensed beds –Lancaster General Hospital, Women & Babies Hospital, Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital, and Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital. The system includes more than 300 primary-care and specialty physicians as well as outpatient and Urgent Care services. Having become part of the Penn Medicine system in 2015, LGH has had a strong financial history and has grown into a robust, high quality, complex healthcare institution.
The CFO will be responsible for oversight and management of all financial functions for the organization. Reporting to the CEO of LGH with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the CFO of Penn Medicine, this position will serve as an operational CFO, effectively managing the development of strategic financial plans, program-specific business plans, and annual operating and capital budgets. This person will enable accountability and effective decision-making by delivering clear, accurate and timely performance information to the Board, management and staff. The CFO ensures that LGH is in regulatory compliance, manages financial risks, and provides effective and responsive oversight of billing, financial services, treasury, audit and payor contracting.
We seek candidates who have worked within a health system or complex, single-hospital entity with a multi-site footprint and have served as CFO or have held system-wide responsibilities at the VP-level. This person must have experience with acute care and physician practice management; academic health system experience is seen as a value-add. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of speed and accuracy, and will have the ability to diagnose opportunities, influence organizations, and instigate change. Candidates must have a track record of building, leading and managing successful teams over the long term. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or CPA highly preferred.
