Associate, Executive Search, Nonprofit and Social Impact

Matt Schultz is a crucial member of the search teams’ efforts in identifying and recruiting exceptional leaders to mission-driven clients with Koya Partners | Diversified Search Group.

As a Search Associate, Matt supports all aspects and stages of the search process with a focus on candidate development and project management. Matt’s early career in higher education and leadership-centric nonprofits has fueled his passion for mission-centered work grounded in equity and care for the whole person.

Before joining Koya Partners, Matt worked in development with Amate House, a year-long social justice-focused leadership development program connecting young adults with full-time positions at Chicago area nonprofits. He managed all fundraising, communications and alumni engagement activities, including donor outreach, event planning, marketing strategy and board management. Matt had served six years on the Associate Board and volunteered with Amate House as a Fellow before deciding to join the organization in a full-time capacity.

Matt began his career in student affairs at higher education institutions in California and the Midwest, including DePaul University, Loyola Marymount University and Otis College of Art and Design. He spent over ten years working with diverse student populations in various roles across student affairs, including housing and residence life, academic advising, student activities, community service and civic engagement and new and returning student orientation. At DePaul, he facilitated several “Chicago Quarter” academic success courses for first-year students. His passion for service led Matt to advise numerous service immersion groups around the world, including trips to Ecuador, Colorado, El Salvador and Costa Rica.

As a full-time AmeriCorps volunteer, Matt provided professional academic advising and personal support to a caseload of forty-three financially at-risk, highly motivated Chicago-area community college students known as ‘One Million Degree/OMD Scholars.’

Matt has served on various committees within the Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO) around health and wellness and student engagement, as well as writing for the organization’s TRENDS quarterly newsletter. In 2019, Matt earned the GLACUHO “Outstanding New Professional Award” and the “Trends Article of the Year.”

As an active member of the Associate Board of Amate House for six years, Matt helped re-draft bylaws, expanded board membership beyond Illinois and raised record-setting funds for the organization.
