Diversified Search Group seeks a skilled and versatile Manager, Business Development and Communications (Manager) for its education-focused portfolio firm, Storbeck Search. Storbeck Search’s client base and prospect list includes the nation’s most compelling colleges, universities, independent schools, and mission-driven organizations. The Manager will work in partnership with firm leadership to drive business development. Reporting directly to Global Education Practice Lead and Managing Director Shelly Storbeck, the Manager will serve as the firm’s expert writer and editor and will develop compelling and effective marketing and outreach plans. The Manager will be supported in their work by a Communications Coordinator, whom they will directly supervise.

Primary responsibilities of the Manager, Business Development and Communications, include:

  • Translating inquiries and RFPs into compelling proposals, presentations, and other supporting materials;
  • Establishing an editorial calendar for business development and marketing efforts that combines company-sponsored events, email marketing campaigns, conference presentations, social media and website content, op-ed articles, etc. into a powerful and cohesive communications strategy;
  • Collaborating with Shelly Storbeck and other managing directors across the firm to develop persuasive and relevant articles and presentations on topics highlighting Storbeck’s areas of expertise;
  • Serving as the firm’s strongest writer and best editor, lending an eye to a wide range of materials before publication to ensure quality and consistency; and,
  • Working closely with DSG Corporate Communications to ensure consistent brand positioning across the multiple firms within Diversified Search Group.

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following qualities, skills, and experiences:

  1. A deep commitment to and familiarity with current issues within the worlds of higher education and independent schools;
  2. Excellent writing and editing skills, including strong attention to detail in copyediting;
  3. Impeccable judgement and discretion, including the ability to balance competing priorities with diplomacy and grace;
  4. A sophisticated understanding of the dynamics of diversity, equity, and inclusion and how they impact our work with clients and each other in both visible and invisible ways;
  5. A systems-thinker approach to communications and marketing and an inclination to identify and capitalize upon best practices;
  6. Experience and comfort with technology, including use of databases for capturing and reporting data as well as tools for updating websites and social media content; and,
  7. Commitment to and identification with the core values of Diversified Search Group and our client organizations.
